What is it?

This is a hardware emulator for the Apple II's Disk II drive, built around the STM32F411 (BlackPill) microcontroller. It enables your Apple II to load and run disk images directly from an SD card, effectively replacing the need for physical floppy disks.

Why did you make it?

Floppy disks are becoming increasingly rare and unreliable. This project was initiated to provide an affordable, open-source solution for Apple II enthusiasts to preserve and enjoy their software collections without the hassles of aging hardware.
