What is it?

This is a fully assembled and tested Apple IIe Enhanced reproduction motherboard for retro-computing users, collectors, and educators. It combines a 65C02 CPU, 64K onboard RAM, composite video output, seven Apple II expansion slots, an auxiliary memory/80-column slot, a PS/2 keyboard adapter, and a convenient single 5V power input.

Add your own PS/2 keyboard, composite video cable, monitor, and regulated 5V 2A power supply to create a basic working Apple IIe-style computer. The motherboard and included keyboard adapter are function-tested before shipment.

This board follows the 1984 607-0187-A / 820-0087-A Enhanced Apple IIe architecture. The Enhanced platform adds the 65C02 processor, revised system ROMs, and MouseText character support. Compared with the original 1977 Apple II Rev 0 platform, it is a better target for many later Apple IIe programs, ProDOS-era software, 80-column applications, and compatible storage peripherals.

Why did you make it?

Our earlier Apple II Rev 0 Reproduction Kit focuses on recreating the historical 1977 Apple II experience. It is intended for builders and collectors interested in the earliest Apple II motherboard, component sourcing, assembly, and period-correct behavior.

This product has a different goal: it is a finished, practical Apple IIe Enhanced computer motherboard. It reduces the work of sourcing vintage parts and assembling a full kit, so the buyer can spend more time running software, experimenting with expansion cards, and building a usable retro-computing system.

How is it different from our Apple II Rev 0 kit?

Finished product instead of a bare PCB or component kit

Apple IIe Enhanced 65C02 platform instead of the early Apple II Rev 0 architecture

64K RAM installed directly on the motherboard

Enhanced ROMs and MouseText support for many later Apple IIe programs

Built-in Apple IIe memory-management architecture plus an auxiliary expansion slot

PS/2 keyboard adapter and keyboard socket cable included

Single 5V power input for a simpler basic setup

Intended as a practical working computer rather than a strict 1977 historical replica

Software and storage compatibility

The onboard 64K RAM meets the base memory requirement for ProDOS 8 and many disk-based Apple II applications. Software that requires 128K, including some later productivity programs, needs a compatible 64K auxiliary-memory or Extended 80-Column card; that card is not included.

The seven expansion slots use the familiar Apple II bus architecture, but compatibility is not universal. Some very early software depends on undocumented NMOS 6502 behavior, while some later programs require additional RAM or a particular expansion card.

Modern 5V floppy emulators and solid-state storage cards are generally the easiest match for this single-5V setup. Original mechanical Disk II, DuoDisk, hard-drive hardware, and some vintage expansion cards may require +12V, -12V, or -5V in addition to +5V. Do not assume that the included 5V cable can power those devices. Check the power requirements of every controller, drive, and expansion card before connecting it.

Important compatibility note

This is a reproduction/compatible hobbyist computer and is not an original Apple product. Exact compatibility depends on the software version, ROM expectations, expansion card, storage controller, display, keyboard, and power arrangement used. Buyers should be familiar with basic retro-computing setup and troubleshooting.
