Shipping, Customs & Duties Notice
For the logistics services we use, shipments to most major developed countries are delivered door to door, and the shipping fee includes customs clearance, duties, and taxes. If a particular destination, route, or carrier requires the buyer to pay import duties/taxes separately or provide information for customs declaration or clearance, we will contact you before shipment and will only ship after confirming the required information with you. Please order with confidence and do not worry about unexpected customs charges after purchase.
What is it?
This is Version 2 of our ZX80 replica computer kit. It is designed to be software/ROM compatible with the original Sinclair ZX80 (1980), one of the earliest affordable home computers, built around a Z80-class CPU and mostly standard TTL logic.
Version 2 keeps the spirit and behavior of the original ZX80 while adding practical updates based on the first version. This release includes bug fixes, small design corrections, an improved appearance, and refined 3D-printed parts/enclosure.
At this time, the new version is supplied with the key-button / tactile-switch keyboard only. The membrane keyboard version is not currently offered. If you need a special configuration or have specific requirements, please email us at [email protected] before ordering.
Pricing note
The fully assembled version keeps the same price as before. The self-assembly kit version is USD $20 higher than the previous version.
Why did you make it?
Original ZX80 machines are increasingly rare, expensive, and often non-functional due to age and fragile parts. Building or using a replica lets you experience early 1980s home computing on real hardware behavior rather than only through an emulator.
What makes it special?
Historically faithful architecture: a ZX80-style Z80/TTL machine with no custom ULA chip, capturing the clever minimalism of the original design.
Modern-build reliability: all parts are new production, and obsolete or hard-to-source components are handled through clean, documented substitutions or adapter solutions.
Version 2 refinements: updated fixes from the earlier release, cleaner mechanical fit, improved 3D-printed parts, and a more polished finished appearance.
Builder-friendly design: through-hole assembly where practical, clear silkscreening, and a documented build flow.
